Washing paint and fixing paint are two different jobs

A wash takes dirt off. Decontamination takes off the stuff that stays stuck after the wash. Polishing is what changes swirl marks, haze, and scratches in the clear coat. Then ceramic coating goes over the finish we leave behind. It doesn’t erase anything under it.

We’ve had cars come in with water spots and untouched panels sealed under a coating that was sold with a huge year claim. That’s a prep problem. Anybody can wipe coating on paint. Getting the paint right first is where the hours go.

This started at our Riverbank car lot

We got into detailing because nobody would show up

We had a small used-car dealership here in Riverbank for nine years. We’d call detailers and they wouldn’t show, so eventually we just did the cars ourselves. The kids helped. Jude was barely walking and we had him cleaning wheels.

Somewhere along the way we got really into it. We liked taking a car that felt used up and making the owner excited to drive it again. We opened Vanish in 2020, and we’re still doing it as a family for people coming from Modesto, Riverbank, Oakdale, Turlock, and around the Central Valley.
